Web 2.o

Web 2.0 is every where around us, often with out us even knowing it. A wide range of tools were shown during the session.

I believe the discussion we had around the use of different media such as TV, social, blogging was real important. In the end it depends on your target group and their channel affinities what type of media you should use. Also on what are you trying to do, just create some buzz, sell a product or perform customer service. This however doesn't contradict to the fact that web 2.0 tools are the future. Companies like British Telecom for example are using Twitter so that customers can help customers and technical help desk problems, that is not only real innovative but seriously cost effective at the same time.

Having a linked-in account (http://www.linkedin.com/in/davidspray) is a must today and provides many features a normal CV can't provide. Your references are on-line if people endorse you and your network is really important for business. Such tools really give you the power to keep in touch, up to date and find interesting jobs.

SaaS is another important area. Installing costly software at your own company premises is a thing of yesterday. Renting your required solution via the cloud is the future and the enormous growth of companies like salesforce.com replacing SIEBEL shows that has already happened.

Finanlly the "reach" web 2.0 applications or moblie apps can give you is unmatched. The fact that you can develop for a low costs mobile applications and they can be distributed around the world immediately provides totally new abilities.

In my next blog more on crowd sourcing and my favorite example from STAR BUCKS.

Talk to you soon my dear followers ;-)
