Were can we see products put into the right light, how are they presented to the public to really have the wished effect, where else as during a concert do we see a stage?
From my point of view some of the best stages are in the US sport industry. The teams in the NHL and NBA are masters in providing there players a stage to promote the person and create hype around a product.
Check out the video from the new york rangers, the lights go down, music is up and then each player skates in with a bright light on them.....
Europe has also picked up this concept, a great example is when Cristiano Ronaldo was presented as a player at Real Madrid.
Friends and followers, it will take me less time to get back to you with some more info on stages and the influence they can have on us!!!

Crowdsourcing has been around for ages
Wow, after surfing the web on crowdsourcing I was astonished to see that the technique has been around for much longer than I expected. Basically (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_39/b4002422.htm) business week bloomberg articles from 2006 show how TV adds for companies such as L'oreal were succesfully produced.
Guess that just re-afirms what was said during class, in Switzerland we are way behind the leading countries when it comes down to fully benefiting and using the tools for new marketing....

Crowd Sourcing
GREAT PRESENTATION!!!
Was great to have a hands-on down and to earth expert on the topic come in and present his business. The idea of crowd sourcing really shows the outside in approach, in which products should always be developed.
Here one of my favorites: http://mystarbucksidea.force.com/ideaList?ext=0&lsi=0&category=Food
Here you have star bucks asking customers what kind of product ideas they have in order to develop the best, based on further customer ratings and provide them in your local coffee shop.
It was intersting to see that all types of questions and problems can approached via crowd sourcing. Initially I was slightly unsure if it could be used for all industries and product types.
See if I can find some more examples during the wknd......

Web 2.o
Web 2.0 is every where around us, often with out us even knowing it. A wide range of tools were shown during the session.
I believe the discussion we had around the use of different media such as TV, social, blogging was real important. In the end it depends on your target group and their channel affinities what type of media you should use. Also on what are you trying to do, just create some buzz, sell a product or perform customer service. This however doesn't contradict to the fact that web 2.0 tools are the future. Companies like British Telecom for example are using Twitter so that customers can help customers and technical help desk problems, that is not only real innovative but seriously cost effective at the same time.
Having a linked-in account (http://www.linkedin.com/in/davidspray) is a must today and provides many features a normal CV can't provide. Your references are on-line if people endorse you and your network is really important for business. Such tools really give you the power to keep in touch, up to date and find interesting jobs.
SaaS is another important area. Installing costly software at your own company premises is a thing of yesterday. Renting your required solution via the cloud is the future and the enormous growth of companies like salesforce.com replacing SIEBEL shows that has already happened.
Finanlly the "reach" web 2.0 applications or moblie apps can give you is unmatched. The fact that you can develop for a low costs mobile applications and they can be distributed around the world immediately provides totally new abilities.
In my next blog more on crowd sourcing and my favorite example from STAR BUCKS.
Talk to you soon my dear followers ;-)

Took a bit longer than planned
Hi friends and followers. Well took a bit longer than expected but I've finally found time to review fully the "bluebox" script and confirm my assumptions. So I believe with my last post showing a traditional company Burberry telling their story in combination with new media CRM a ideal example has been provided.
Storry telling is really important with new media out there. Having not only a web site telling your "company story" but also fan pages, viral videos and providing people the ability interact with you on your story is clearly the way forward in today's market already.
See my next post on crowd sourcing.....

What a start - confusion
So here is a late post on my first lesson in new marketing, going to title it "confusion". The start of the lesson had an interesting twist to it. The agenda and topics for the upcoming semester look interesting and also the guest presenters raise my hope that this could be something that will support my future career and be interesting at the same time.
The whole idea of writing a blog during the class is innovative and really fits the theme of "new marketing". Only thing that worries me is "when the hell am I going to find time to do this on a regular basis". Also, my personal experience with blogs is "ziltsch", meaning nothing at all. For me blogs were, and still are, some craze for people that have got to much time. I often read about "promi bloggers" so nothing that really intereseted me. I know there are some real good tech blogs but as a CRM Project Manager I don't think there are many blogs out there that could be good for my daily business or my personal interests. More on those, my personal interests, later my dear followers (still need to find some).
It's obvious, the professor knows what he's talking about (and that he's a total apple fan ;-), but this story telling activity is causing "confusion". After re-discussing the task in the group and seeing many confused faces I had a chat with the professor. Some interesting discussions on google, microsoft (yes Bill not everybody likes you) and of course apple and I'm still confused. I get the concept of story telling and it's importance in advertising, so also new media advertising, but am I really getting the message the professor is trying to get across??? Well let me read the scripts this wknd and tell you more by Sunday........
Stay tunded for more information and story telling. As a famous story teller once said "good night and good luck"
